Connecting Branches Genealogy
About Me
Let me introduce myself and share the story behind
Connecting Branches Genealogy—a business built
on a lifelong passion for uncovering the stories that
shape our families and communities.
My name is Tyler Loiselle, and I first caught the
“genealogy bug” when I was just 11 years old. It all
started with a family legend—that we were
somehow related to the famous English author
Charles Dickens. While we’ve yet to prove that connection, it lit a spark in me that’s only grown stronger over the years. What began as a personal curiosity quickly turned into a deep appreciation for history in all its forms from historical societies to local cemeteries.
As I dug deeper into my own roots, I realized how powerful and meaningful it is to understand where we come from. I also discovered how fragile our history can be—how easily stories are lost if we don’t make the effort to preserve them. That’s when I began to see genealogy not just as a hobby, but as a calling.
My journey led me far beyond my family tree. I started exploring antique stores, searching for forgotten treasures—old photographs, documents, and rare books. One memorable find was a five-volume book set passed down through three generations of the Goodrich family—the same family that gave its name to the Village of Goodrich in Genesee County, Michigan. That discovery led to a connection with the Goodrich Atlas Area Historical Society, where my grandma and I uncovered 1800s-era ledgers owned by the Goodrich family, and even a medicine bottle that once belonged to her grandfather, Peter Currie, a local pharmacist in the 1950s.
From that moment on, I found myself drawn to local history and community preservation. We became involved with the Goodrich Atlas Historical Society and later joined the Davison Area Historical Society, where we played a part in reopening the Davison Museum after it had been closed during the pandemic. Along the way, we visited other historical societies across Genesee County and beyond, learning firsthand how they operate and how vital they are to preserving community's history, heritage and identity.
Through these experiences, I saw a growing need for support—both for individuals trying to navigate their own family histories and for small historical organizations working tirelessly to preserve local heritage. That’s why I started Connecting Branches Genealogy.
This business was born from a desire to help others explore their roots, preserve their stories, and connect with their past. Whether it’s through personalized genealogy research, partnering with historical societies, and preserving and safeguarding local cemeteries, my mission is to keep history alive and accessible for generations to come.
I believe every family has stories worth telling, and every community has a history worth preserving. Connecting Branches Genealogy is here to make sure those stories are found, shared, and never forgotten.
If you’re looking to discover your ancestry, document your family’s legacy, or support local historical preservation, I’d be honored to help. Let’s connect the branches of history together.
